Gokyo Trek begins with a short flight to reach Lukla the gateway town for various adventures around high Khumbu valley within Everest, where walk leads on the pleasant trail past nice villages with impressive Buddhist religious monuments on route facing views of snow-capped peaks. The walk leads into serene alpine woodland to reach Sagarmatha National Park (Sagarmatha for Everest in Nepal, while Sherpa calls as Chomolungma of Tibetan origin), this park designated as World Heritage Sites protecting its exotic flora and fauna including beautiful forest and dramatic landscapes of mountains and valleys. The adventure continues to reach at famous Namche Bazaar with time for acclimatization and to explore its interesting culture enriched with Buddhism religion and heritage and then heading towards Gokyo Lake hidden between high mountains of Cholatse and Cho-Oyu a spectacular spot to experience.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu with transfer to hotel.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport get transferred to hotels after received by our guides and staff, at hotel check-in and join in for group briefing regarding treks and other useful information, with welcome dinner.
Day 02: In Kathmandu with a sightseeing tour around places of interest.
Morning departs from the hotel where our city guide will show you around places of interest within Kathmandu, a tour of world heritage sites and back to hotel preparation for the trek to Everest.
Day 03: Flight to Lukla 2,820 m and trek to Phakding 2,657 m – 04 hrs.
Morning fly to Lukla with grand views of Himalayan peaks during 35 mins flight with Everest on reaching at Lukla with time to refresh, then continue walking on a gradual trail with few ups and down past Sherpa village to reach at Phakding for an overnight stay.
Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m – 06 hrs.
The morning starts on the gradual trail following Dudh Kosi River upstream to reach at Monjo and Sagarmatha National Park entrance, from here on river valley within a forested area, then with a climb for few hours to reach at famous Namche Bazaar for two nights stop.
Day 05: In Namche for rest to support acclimatization with short hike and excursion.
Namche a perfect spot and heights for rest days to support acclimatization, where one can take a high up at scenic viewpoint facing Everest-Lhotse-Nuptse-Amadablam and other range of mountains, walking high resting and sleeping helps to acclimatize better before heading highest areas.
Day 06: Trek to Dole 4,110 m past Phortse Tenga – 06 hrs.
After a nice pleasant stop at Namche Bazaar, morning leads to scenic walks with a view of
Mountains, on winding trail as our route, divert to a climb to reach a high hill at Mong offers
excellent views of Everest with magnificent Amadablam.
After short break downhill within cool shade of woodland to reach Phortse Tenga a village on a
Valley and gorge of Dudh Kosi River valley, from here slow climb takes you at Dole for overnight
stop having few nice lodges to stay.
Day 07: Trek to Machherma 4,470 m – 04 hrs.
Morning leads towards higher terrain but the walk is pleasant after a short climb up to a ridge,
where leaving tree lines stops for short alpine bushes of juniper and Burberry, after steep and
short ups from Dole. Walk gets better on nice scenic trails with grand views of Mt. Cho-Oyu
a than on the downhill to a lovely valley where Machherma, a small settlement located with nice
good lodges to stay on route Gokyo Lake.
Day 08: Trek to Gokyo Lake 4,750 m – 04 hrs.
After a pleasant overnight at Machherma where walk leads to an uphill climb, then on an easy trail to Gokyo Lake walking beneath Ngozumba glacier, reaching the first lake and then second lakes of Gokyo, finally walk leads at third main lake also called Dudh Pokhari where summer settlement of Gokyo located with good lodges to stay.
Day 09: At Gokyo hike to Gokyo-Ri 5,357m.
Morning hike to Gokyo Ri at 5,357m one of the highlights of this adventure with a panorama of world’s highest mountains Mt. Cho Oyo, Gyachung Kang, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Cholatse, Taweche and to the east views of Mt. Makalu.
After a great exciting time descend back to Gokyo for lunch with the afternoon free to enjoy the surrounding beautiful views.
Day 10: Walk back to Dole 4,410 m – 06 hrs.
Enjoying a lovely time at Gokyo valley and its simmering glacial lakes return journey leads to a
long descend past main lakes of Gokyo walking close beneath Ngozumba glacier, as walks leads
to reach Machherma.
From here afternoon walk leads to a climb on a ridge, and then on winding scenic path to reach
back at Dole walking past nice areas and settlement of Luza, on reaching at Dole for overnight
stop after a good scenic day walks.
Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar – 06 hrs.
From Dole where walk leads you to main trekking trails of Namche Bazaar on leaving the Gokyo
Areas, where walk follows to Phortse Tenga with a climb up to Mong and on downhill towards
Namche on same trails, at Namche enjoy the afternoon relaxing and browsing around its
Interesting stores and shops.
Day 12: Trek to Lukla – 06 hrs.
Today a long walk to reach our last stop in Khumbu area at Lukla, from Namche on the downhill to a river with a short climb to Monjo and then on a good trail to Phakding village, where few hours walk from here reaches you at Lukla for final overnight stop within Everest and Khumbu area.
Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel with a free afternoon at leisure.
Morning as per your flight time transfer to Tenzing-Hillary air terminal in Lukla, boarding in a smaller aircraft for the scenic flight back to Kathmandu and then to your hotel, after a most amazing time on Gokyo Lake trekking.
Day 14: In Kathmandu reserve and contingency day with a free day for own activities.
We reserve this extra day as a contingency in case of bad weather that might lead to flight delay and cancellation at Lukla, which happens sometimes even in the best season of time If all goes well enjoy this spare day for your own individual activities and shopping.
Day 15: Final departure from Kathmandu homeward bound or to respective destinations.
Last day in the land of Himalayan wonders, as per your international flight time depart from the hotel for the airport for your international flight back to home countries or other respective destinations.

In 2010, my son, husband and I did the Langtang Valley Trek with Anjan as our amazing guide. His knowledge of the area was extensive, including walking expectations, weather and terrain conditions, and the best places to stop, rest, eat and sleep.
